Brand new modules now available within Chronicler
Staff Allocation & Rostering
This release marks the availability of a new staff allocation and rostering module in Chronicler.
With this module you can:
- Build out staffing plans: crews are now linked to events; this allows for shifts with associated staffing requirements tied to crews that will work at that event.
- Assign staff quickly and easily: a dedicated visual workspace allows you to easily assign staff into the event staffing plan while ensuring they meet the requirements of the positions to which they are assigned.
- Crew staffing visualisation: once staff are assigned, anyone working with a crew can easily see the staff assigned to that crew, and with appropriate permissions, make last minute adjustments to their staffing.
- Strong roster validation: our rostering implementation comes equipped with configurable rules to enforce work time limits, minimum shift spacing and a variety of other parameters to ensure staff work arrangements adhere to legislated requirements and company policies.
- Highly configurable overrides: permission to override any roster rule can be delegated to specific users, allowing tightly scoped delegation of authority.
Equipment Allocation & Rostering
- Track equipment in Chronicler: you can record any asset used by crews in the system for tracking. This can optionally include an inventory management component for consumables, allowing for live tracking of resource assignment across your events.
- Assign equipment to crews: assign equipment to crews to track resource assignment.
- Crew equipment tabs: crew equipment tabs now use the same roster-editing experience as staff allocation, allowing you to quickly and easily see the resources assigned to any crew.
Chronicler updates
Platform updates
- Refreshed look: Chronicler now supports a dark colour scheme that’s remembered between sessions, along with a refreshed product font and clearer display scaling.
- Desktop & shell refresh: a new taskbar, along with tabbed layouts for user settings, layers, and profile editors, makes it easier to arrange your workspace.
- Unsaved changes protection: Chronicler now warns you before navigating away from unsaved changes on jobs, crews, knowledge bases, and desktop panels.
- Toolbar consolidation: Unity, knowledge bases and stats have now been relocated into the consolidated toolbar under the Modes selector.
- Download controls: admins can now control, per user, who can download, export, or print items such as search results, forms, ePCR records, logs, and sitreps.
- Retiring forms stay readable: a custom form can now be marked inactive and retired without breaking the readability of historical records that used it.
- Unity enhancements: Unity now includes its own PDF and CSV log export directly, with a more responsive layout. The standalone Unity export has been retired now that this capability lives in Unity itself.
Access & permissions
- Simplified administration navigation: the separate Admin navigation item has been removed. All settings can now be found under the settings cog on the toolbar, which provides access to both your user profile and any administrative settings you have access to.
- Entity-scoped admin: the global Administrator permission has been broken apart to allow for selected delegation of administrative permissions. Users can now be granted administrative permissions to specific areas scoped by site, level, type and/or event.
- Event-level access: access can now be limited right down to a specific event, so event-scoped operators can create and work jobs within their event without needing wider access.
- Permission groups: named groups of permissions can be applied to users to reduce the repetitive setup required for common role types.
- Per-user access controls: access can now be set individually for specific desktop modules (including the new staff allocation and roster modules), rather than being all-or-nothing.
- Locked jobs: users with administrative job access can now lock and unlock jobs, allowing preservation of records in critical incidents.
Event-aware operations
- Events on core records: crews, locations, SOPs, logs, and reference documents can now be tied to a specific event, keeping event workspaces cleanly separated from the rest of your operation.
- Flexible event-based crews: crews created for an event no longer need to sit within a specific site, level, or type hierarchy.
- Event-aware locations: locations can now be associated with events, with an option to display or filter events on a location, and a details button for faster inspection.
- Stronger event records: events now derive a start and end date from their earliest and latest activity, and event search has been improved, including support for including inactive events and auto-selecting when only one is available.
- Clearer situation handling: a new problem information dialog and definition fields make it easier to see and define the situation associated with a job.
- Live SOP editing: adding a new SOP step now updates in place, without needing a full-page refresh.
Maps
- Map overlays: where enabled, overlays can now be saved, reloaded, and rendered on the map, with an overhauled editing experience.
- Map zones & paths: zones and paths now have their own scoped access control, managed under user management within settings.
- KML & GPX import: paths, zones, and locations can now be imported from KML files, and map paths from GPX files.
- Faster situational awareness: where enabled, hovering over a job or crew map pin can now show a quick view, and map markers grouped together for clarity.
- Job search on the map: search results can now be viewed geographically without leaving the search screen.
- Updated basemaps: light and dark basemap imagery has been updated, with cleaner map keyboard shortcuts and guide icon placement.
Crews & dispatch
- Crew multidispatch: where enabled, a crew is now able to be assigned to multiple jobs, with job status controls and crew job tables supporting this workflow, and per-job crew status shown on job cards.
- Crew login permissions: crews now have unique access codes, visible to authorised editors, that can provide access for crews to log in, edit their jobs, access priorities, update their own details, and view the events those jobs belong to.
- Crew status to notes: crew status changes are now written directly to crew notes, and tracker ID (previously EventLink ID) can be cleared when needed.
- Optional detailed crew info: job list entries can optionally show more detailed crew information, and crews collapse tidily on smaller screens.
- Closed job protection: Chronicler now prevents new assignments being made to a job that’s already closed.
- Job alert sounds: users can now set up sound alerts for specific job events.
- Command palette: a new keyboard shortcut (Cmd/Ctrl-K) brings up a command palette for quick actions, so common tasks no longer require hunting through the toolbar.
Messaging & tracking
- Modern tracker integration: a new tracking integration path is available for deployments that use it, with modern tracker configuration.
- More reliable messaging: SMS, voice, and tracker messaging have been rebuilt on a more reliable foundation, reducing the chance of duplicated or dropped messages.
- Richer notifications: notification rules can now trigger on a much wider range of job and crew activity, with fully user-editable message templates for more informative outbound content. For the first time, templates can now be customised without engineering involvement.
Additional improvements
- More responsive cards & lists: job cards, crew cards, crew list entries, and data tables now adapt more smoothly to different screen sizes, with improved readability on job list entries.
- Refreshed sign-in: the sign-in screen has been tidied up, including better password manager support.
- Settings & map toolbar cleanup: settings screens are more consistent, with clearer button labelling and export available from settings lists.

- Weather panel rewrite: the weather panel has been rewritten for more flexible display.
- Form notification & document improvements: form notifications and document generation have been improved, including support for translation-aware templates.
