What Does an Effective Event Control Room Need to Manage Workforce, Incidents, and Communications in One System?

A standard that makes them part of the wider picture, rather than running a parallel operation alongside it.

That’s not a complicated ask. It’s actually quite a straightforward one. What makes it complicated is finding a system that delivers it without creating new overhead for the teams that have to use it.

Collaboration Has to Be Built Into the Process

The shift that makes the difference is moving from a room where collaboration is something people try to do despite the system, to a room where collaboration is built into how the system works. Incidents logged in real time, not retrospectively. Information shared across agencies as it develops, not summarised at the end. Prompts for the right information at the right moment, rather than whoever’s loudest getting attention.

That’s the difference between a control room that manages events and one that just records them.
